So, I’ve already alluded to the fact that i’m planning to move to Asia next year but i thought i would elaborate a little…
So, as you (hopefully) know by now my 6 month stint in Southeast Asia this year pretty much changed my life! A grand claim i know…but it really did. My perspective on life changed dramatically and i realised there is more to life than i thought.
This has led me to make some pretty big decisions about my life and the biggest one by far is getting out of blighty on a more permanent basis and to move to the place i left my heart, Asia. But more specifically to a place i found love….both for a continent and a special someone :)…Thailand…cheese alert!
Thailand gets under your skin, anyone that’s been there will tell you that. It’s the land of smiles where the people are friendly, the food is amazing and you feel totally free. Now, i must admit that i fell in love with pretty much all the countries i visited (#floozy!), but Thailand is where i met Greg and spent the most time and i feel so connected to it. As the gateway to Southeast Asia it is a great base to travel from but also a home to come back to (well here’s hoping anyway!!).
Greg actually suggested the idea of moving to Asia (so you can blame him for stealing me away 😉 ) and at first i completely dismissed it. I was so tied to the UK from a personal and professional point of view but travelling just seemed to cut these ‘ties’ i thought i had…dont get me wrong i’m going to miss my favourite people (you know who you are!) so much it will hurt but i feel so liberated that it’s now or never. I’m throwing caution to the wind and jumping in feet first…and why not! life is too short (ok, that’s enough cliches for the moment!)
So now the planning starts, decisions need to be made and plans need to be put into action. Those of you that know me know that this is the bit i love the most…planning!! the excitment of planning something this amazing is almost too much to bear!!! lol it will keep me sane during the next 5-6 months of working, living at home and saving…oh and so will this new little love of mine…my blog 🙂
So first things first…where the hell are we going to live??
Bangkok is the obvious choice but i love the community feel of Chiang Mai, and i’m a little loathed to give up one hectic city for another. If i’m going to up-root my whole life to exlplore something new i want it to be drastically different…i think! so somewhere like Chiang Mai is a little more appealing right now but i guess i also have someone else to think about here…Chiang Mai isn’t in the best place for Greg to work from, it is also not best placed to easily get to the beautiful Thai Islands (which i plan on doing as often as possible), jump on a coach to Cambodia (my other love) or a plane somewhere when needed…so it’s not the most convenient BUT there is so much more in the ‘pro’s’ box, so i guess we shall see 🙂
Any thoughts from my amazing readers, family, friends would be most appreciated!
I’ll keep you posted…Loves xxx
