So lovely people, as I write this I am currently sitting in bikini beside the pool at Mad Monkey Hostel in Siem Reap with a beer in hand. It’s at times like this I appreciate just how lucky I am! Quitting my job to travel & blog has so far been one of the best decisions of my life, and I couldn’t be more happy…right cheese over sorry! lol
I’ve come over to Cambodia for about 10 days before I head to Chiang Mai for Songkran. It feels like everyone I speak to is heading there for the 3 day Thai water festival, and it is going to be EPIC!
I visited Cambodia last year, and it was by far one of my favourite places (I think I say that about everywhere!!!), so I’m really happy to be back. This time though I don’t need to worry about doing all the sightseeing, it’s all about the chilling, the pool, the beach and the partying!
In a few days I’ll be heading down to Sihanoukville to party on Serenditpity beach, recover on Otres beach, and chill on Koh Rong…heaven!
So, on to this weeks Photo & Story of the Week:
Photo of the Week
I was so pleased with with this shot. I was at the Botanical Gardens in Kandy, Sri Lanka and some random Sri Lankan guy that worked there called me over and showed me two Iguanas. It was hard to see them in the first place let alone trying to re-find them through my cameras viewfinder, but I got the little tike. Shame the guy then wanted paying for the tip…
I HAD to put this one in even though I didn’t take it (photo credit to Bryce Nichol). It is just a classic! We discovered a secret beach in Mirissa in Sri Lanka and these crazy cats were having the time of their lives having a fun mini photo shoot. The location was just so beautiful and their photos were awesome. My new dutch friend Moreen & I partyed with them that night. Such fun…
These boys were at the Botanical Gardens and they just ran at me as I was taking a photo. They pretty much bashed into me just after I got the shot.
The secret beach in Mirissa was just gorgeous. It was in a sort of cove so the sea was still and so clear and there was hardly anyone there.
Story of the Week
This weeks story comes from a hippie Swedish guy that I met on the train from Ella to Kandy.
He was on a train in India and him & his friends had decided to smoke a joint out of the door. It is illegal to smoke week in India but they can be fairly relaxed. Despite this a local had decided to call the police on them, so at the next station a 4-5 policemen got on the train and proceeded to arrest them. A western girl that was smoking with them stopped the police mid sentence and started having a go at them back, saying they were being ridiculous and they should not arrest them over one joint. The policemen were so shocked that she had not just put the joint out and conceded, that they didn’t know what to do, so just sheepishly walked away!
This is probably the only time talking back to police would work and I would not recommend anyone tries this tactic lol
Don’t forget to let me know which photo was your favourite in the comments below.
