Hello hello one and all,
I am writing to you today from the beautiful island of Langkawi in Malaysia! I moved on from Koh Lipe in Thailand on Sunday via boat, giving me the easiest and shortest border crossing I’ver ever done – 1.5hrs door to door!
Koh Lipe was paradise but was mostly full of tourists rather than backpackers, so I spent most of the time on my own. I’m in two minds about Koh Lipe in terms on whether it should be on the backpacker trail or not. On one hand backpackers love a good paradise island and I expect the reason it’s currently off their radar is either down to knowledge, or (more likely) cost. It’s a pretty pricey island and so I expect not really in budget for most backpackers. But with this brings the silver lining in that it means the island stays cleaner and more serene. Thailand probably doesn’t need yet another Koh Phi Phi or Koh Phangan!
Anyway, it was a on my travel bucket list so I’m glad I saw it, but to go back I would want to go with someone, and only for a fews days because there isn’t really too much to do the than laze on the beach and go snorkelling.
Photo of the Week:
The first of two sunset photos for this weeks edition of Photo of the Week…because sunsets are just too damn good to choose just one! This was taken from where I was staying just outside Krabi.
These cute little puppies followed me around during my stay at Bananas in Krabi (same place as above)…they were too cute!
Sunset #2 comes to you from Koh Lipe, where I was memorised with the pinks & oranges this one set off amongst the clouds! A storm was brewing off to the right of this picture with some lightening to boot, so it made for a pretty spectacular show!
So as always, please let me know your favourite in the comments below!
Story of the Week
I’ve decided that trying to tell a good story in writing just isn’t working…I can’t seem to get across the humour or shock of a situation in the same way I could if I told you face to face, so I’m going to drop this part of my weekly post…Please feel free to disagree
