Ok lovely people, I’m going to commit to something here, I’m going to start a weekly post which is more of a real-time update for you, because my bigger posts will likely get more & more behind as I am busy actually ‘travelling’ and doing shit, plus the wifi in Asia is pretty shocking.
This post series will include an update of what I’m currently up to, 3-4 of my best photos from the previous week (of which I want you guys to pick your favourite!), annnnd to make this a little different from the hundreds of other bloggers that do this, I’m also going to chuck in the best story I hear from another backpacker, tourist or local, to regain and entertain you with.
Oh and I promise to get this out every Tuesday so you know when to expect it…deal?? I’ll take your silence as a yes…great. Well without further ado let’s get on with the first edition!
So yesterday I was in Kandy which is in central Sri Lanka. I came down on the very scenic 7 hour train ride from Ella yesterday, which was my favourite place in Sri Lanka so far, very chilled and amazing views. Kandy was ok but a little boring to be honest, so today I took the train back to the beach (Mirissa) to meet up with my new Dutch friend and chillax 🙂
Photo of the Week:
Please let me know in the comments below which one you think is the best (A,B,C or D):
This was by far the best sunset I’ve ever seen and completely took my breath away. I was on Hikkaduwa Beach with a beer in hand chatting to a local guy and this bad boy just hit us. This was moments before catching a glimpse of some baby turtles migrating to the sea!!!!! What an evening that was!
Ok, I don’t often get a good photo of myself, mainly because I have the worst fake smile ever! So I was well chuffed with this little beauty. This was the day my new friend and I were supposed to be climbing Ella Rock, but ended up walking 2 hours in the wrong direction! We managed to recover the day though by walking up the much easier Little Adams Peak and were rewarded by this view…just wow!
On the way to Little Adams Peak we came across loads of local ladies that work in the tea fields picking the leaves for the local tea factories. They all looked so happy despite working very long days in the Sri Lankan 30 degree heat. They even stopped for a photo! (well it cost me 50 rupees but hey!)
These cheeky (and apparently horny) monkeys were in there dozens when we stopped for lunch by a waterhole on our safari in Yala National Park. I was taking a nap in the jeep and they came inside and stole my orange! I had a lot of fun watching and photographing their antics…including a prize shot of them enjoying themselves a little too much!
Story of the Week:
I was having diner in Hikkaduwa when I met this young American girl who was studying in Sri Lanka. She was so sweet and I actually couldn’t believe this actually happened to her! She was riding the train (I can’t remember where from or to), in the day I believe, when she looked over to the other side of the carriage and saw the most disturbing sight…a local man was masturbating whilst looking at her!!!! She proceeded to move carriage as you could imagine! I mean really, what is wrong with people!
So there we go, my first Photo & Story of the Week post which I’ve somehow managed to include monkey porn and masturbation into…ha! Sorry about that. Next week will be much cleaner, I promise 🙂
Don’t forget to let me know which photo was your favourite in the comments below.
